I met Philippe Neau-Leduc on June 12, 2014, at a cocktail party during a conference organized by BRED on the theme “Investing in the Horn of Africa, an opportunity for French companies.” The day was specifically dedicated to investments in Djibouti, a country where my parents have been lawyers for forty years and where Philippe had worked on the design and implementation of the Commercial Code, which came into effect the same year.
At that time, he was pursuing a Master degree in Banking and Financial Law at Sorbonne University and was looking to enrich the range of courses with a course on banking litigation, which he proposed to me – it had been my activity for fourteen years. I enthusiastically accepted.
